Formatting Woes: The Sequel

I thought I knew rage trying to format the content of my book. How innocent I was then. Then I tried to format my cover. Why does everything on a computer have to be so difficult? I have some knowledge of computers, and I'm aware there are usually about three different ways to get something done. Why? Because most of the ways will prevent you from doing what you want to do. So a different avenue is needed. WHY? Why make something impossible to do when you can just go around it anyway? I have at least 5 pages open trying to figure this out. Two to experiment, one to look up terms, one to read about it, and one to watch videos of other people doing it.
